As business owners, there is always a list of things to be done – some are large projects, other’s small one-off tasks. Together they can all feel a little overwhelming at times, and when faced with the day ahead, you can end up feeling – ‘So what do I start with?’
There is one over-riding fact – we could do with more money.
This is not being mercenary, or greedy, or belittling the enjoyment of what we do, but it is a fact.
More money to invest in our businesses, to pay the bills, to enjoy time outside of work.
So, when faced with a mountain of things to do, think – What’s the quickest way to the money?
Which task(s) should be given the priority so that you may sell more of your products or services, or higher profit ones, or to new markets? Which will reduce costs, or eliminate unnecessary outgoings?
Look at the potential list and focus on the ones that will make the biggest impact, and start there. Give them the priority first thing that they deserve – even just for an hour or so. It is too easy to get caught up in the day-to-day, and find these critical areas are forgotten.
